I am NOT a Gear Whore. ;)
I got an Imac G5 2.0ghz computer a few weeks ago and it came with 2x512 ram. i decided to upgrade to 2x1gb ram, so i ordered it from 18004memory.com.

it came yesterday and i put it in. the computer starts up, works for 5 minutes and then that evil screen comes up'you must restart you computer, hold power button/....'

it kept happening. i try to format the HD and is happening WHILE i try to reinstall OSX.

I think theres a problem with the memory. i'll put my old memory in and make sure. has anyone had this issue before? where can i get apple memory, besides from apple, at 200$ for 1gb...

the memory said 100% guarenteed compatible, so i dont know...

Send that memory back, it's almost certain you are having a problem with it.

Try these people:

http://www.ramjet.com/

I've bought memory from them in the past and have not had problems with it.

Crucial.com

Fantastic service, free shipping, and 2 gigs for $233. I have bought from them for around 8 years with no trouble. They are nice about returns as well (or were with me). :D

thanks guys, i got an RMA number and im sending it back today. i think the memory isnt compatible with the apple firmware even though its supposed to be.

im going to order from ramjet i think, its $30 bucks more than this stuff, but i need memory that actually works...
