call me stupid , but i honestly dont know what it means!!! if someone could please clear this up that would be great.. Im talking about attenuation in regard to compressors ... Cheers!!

when u turn the dial up on your amp...its not really "tuning it up" cuz your amp is allways at full blast. the volume knob, or attenuator is only applying resistance to that power. thats why u cant go to 11

so really my volume knobs on my alesis amp are just attentuators?? So does the amp constantly run at its max volume ..

A good example would be like turning your stereo on with all the eq's at ten, then backing them all down to zero. A thin, skinny sound, regardless of volume.
