i use partition magic all the time, works great. norton ghost is a nice product too althoug a bit bulky for what it does

I got tired of Norton a few years ago. Tried to purchase an update, and it wouldn't unlock on my computer. They told me I was copy/paste ing the key wrong. It ended up being at their end, and they just said "Hmmmm." I got a refund.

I just spent $50 on an update an renewal.
They charge extra for "tech support" which is just access to their website and a slight chance of them responding to an E-mail.
If I were a little more computer savvy I'd dump their protection racket scheme in a second.

Get Antivir or Antivir Personal (AVP) It's free, they update regularly, and it's as cut and dry as it gets. I also use Zone Alarm Firewall and have zero compatability issues (knock on wood) they too update pretty often.

If you were a little more computer savy you could set your computer clock back a couple of months before getting the updates, foregoing the subscription fees.
Of course some people would consider that unethical. I consider charging me over and over again for the same product unethical, which is why I don't use Symantec stuff.

Chances are I will change...next time. 
You need periodic updates to keep up with the latest threats,so I don't know how turning back the clock would work when you need to connect to their site for the update.

I Updated the software because my old version didn't include tech support anymore.Even though I've never used it,I was hedging my bets.

I was shocked 3 years ago when I found out that I would need to pay $50 every year to have access to mcafee's updates. I had been using Mcafee for 2 years with no annual fees. When they sprung that on me I immediately uninstalled the program and started scouring the web for the best solution that wouldn't require buying the program again each year. I came acrost Grisoft's AVG. They have a free version for home users which has all the features you need in antivirus software. Google avgfree and download it. It even updates itself to the latest virus dats and it is leaner on system resources than both mcafee and norton.

Oh, one more thing... I use ZoneAlarm for my firewall. It also has a free version and has won awards.

Well, that was a fun night. Finally got this turd shining. I'd change, but to fully uninstall all the Norton stuff (need it for work) on my laptop would mean a wipe and re-install and I have no idea where all the install disks are.
