This is directed to all you happy owners of the Presonus Firepod: I need to know what laptop you're running in your rig.
I'm about to buy, and it's a toss up between the AMD 64 bit Turion CPU, or the Intel Pentium M Centrino job.
The AMD architecture looks attractive but what bugs me is the fact that they don't do the chipset as well. OTOH the Centrino package is all Intel go to wo.
In my experience with desktop DAWs, my Athlon 1800+ with the VIA chipset was an stinking pig, whereas my current set up, an overclocked P4 on an Asus mobo with Intel chipset could support a 40 storey highrise, it's so rock solid.
Could you please tell me the make of your laptop, how fast your hard drive is, the CPU + chipset manufacturer, and any problems you may have encountered
