I've heard many good things about some Audio Technica mics, especially the 4040 and the 4050.

What can anybody tell me about the 4033s? Are they good? What are they good for? I figure at this price it would probably be worth picking up, especially since it works fine (though looks worn).

EDIT: Never mind, its been sold. Delete or close please.

Yeah whoever bought it was probably a total d*ck.
Oh, wait. It was me. Sorry. It can be a small world sometimes.

Haha glad to know there's other Portlanders on here.

Let me know how well it works. I'm surprised it sold so quickly, when I e-mailed him it was still fairly close to the top of the list, and he shot me a message right back saying he just sold it. YOu were right on the money.

Good price. Most seem to go for about $200 around here. I sold mine for $250, but that included an Art Tube MP preamp in the package. And an after market shock mount. Of course that's what I paid for those items six months earlier.

The 4033 is a good mic. But specialized. Hyped lows/highs. Great for room / drums / metal stringed guitars. Not so great for brass ensembles where all voices need a flatter frequency response across the board. I miss the detail, but don't miss not being happy with the sound for my uses. It sounded great on Tuba, but that was about it for my uses. And there's differences between the various models a / CL / ???. Mine was an a (not that anything printed on the mic said it was). Although the case might have indicated it.
