Hi

im looking to buy a AT2020 XLR mic and run i through a Multimix 8 USB 2.0 Digital mixer,

i heave read numerous reviews about de AT2020 but they mostly tell about akoustic guitars, and i am wondering is it good for recording distortion too?

It is far from the conventional method, but there is nothing wrong about doing it that way.

9 out of 10 people you ask about recording distortion (I am assuming you mean a guitar cab) will tell you to use a SM57.

Generally large diaphragm condensers are used for vocals, acoustic guitars etc. and dynamic mic's are used on guitar cabs.

My friend has an AT2020. Sounds dark on acoustic guitar. Sounds good for vocals. Doesn't sound that great on a guitar cab, but not too bad either. Why not just get an SM57? Unless you are wanting a mic for both acoustic and "distortion"...
