I've not compated the 3035 to my 4040, but I LOVE my 4040. It's so good on Acoustic and Vox for me. Admitedly I like my NTK better on me, but it's a very different sound. Smooth, flat, responsive, easy to work with... I don't know much about the 3035...but I don't regrey my 4040 one bit! You won't either if you get one...
I haven't tried the 4040 but I have owned both the 3035 and the 4050 and the difference is night and day. The 3035 is a very narrow or boxy sounding mic in comparison to, well just about anything. The 4050 in comparison was very open sounding and clear. Maybe someone can tell us how the 4050 and 4040 compare.
I've compared them. You get a better mic with the AT4040, which I think absolutely without a doubt outclasses anything at a lower price point and most anything up to $500 in side address, large diaphragm condenser mics.

better in your opinion than ADK vienna/hamburg, or MXlv69??? those were the 2 I was looking at but the 4040 is about the same price on ebay... for vocals and acoustic mainly.

Yes but that's just my opinion. I know a couple people who'd put the ADK Vienna and Hamburg on the same plateau. I know a couple who'd put the MXL V69 on the same level as well.
