At 2041

I am thinking of getting this package, I have heard decent things about these mics (2020 & 2021) and just need something to get started fast and loose.

Are there comparable packages for the same price point?

and if I do get these, I am very interested in any possible mods that anyone might know about in order to improve them.

I really like to DIY my equipment, I don't think there is anything I have not modified, and almost always for the better, so, any suggestions in that regard would be appreciated.

They're decent mics, but they're almost impossible to mod unless your goal is to gut it and start over. Both mics use an electret condenser capsule and a circuit board that consists entirely of surface-mount components. I've been doing electronics hacking for two decades and I took one look and said, "screw this".

Modding SMT boards is not impossible, but it's very, very hard, and unlikely to yield any major improvement.... And I doubt you'll have an easy time finding a better electret condenser capsule, either. I guess you could mod the metal windscreen or something, if that's your idea of fun....

Yeah something along the lines of *hot pink*! you don't see many microphones of that color.
