What's up, at a local pawnshop, I see the ASR-10 and X for the same price.Which one do you think I should get  .I'm looking to start sampling with a unit, and don't want to use an MPC, I'm just gonna use it for drums.I just need to know what has a better sampler and effects engine, if their the same (except for keys of course) I'll just get the X because it's smaller :)

how much they selling for?

anyway, get the kb they aren't the same

ASR-10 by far.

In my humble opinion, stay as far away from Ensoniq as you can. Especially used. And ESPECIALLY in a pawn shop.

i own them both. asr-10 is better sequencer wise and just easier and better option wise and is more of a workstation.i would only get one with the scsi option as the floppy drives are slow and go bad. the asr-x is more of a beat box. the sequencer stinks in it and plays back songs like ellaine dancing from sienfeld. ensoniq stuff is quirky but ive owned mine forever and love the ease of there use.i also use the asr-x pro the (red unit) for triggering live samples. i load in sounds from a zip drive and its pretty fast. there are better options out there. if you could try the asr-10 out and test its major functions its worth the 500$ but try to talk them down for sure.both units still get a good price on ebay.
