Asio?

Hello all
I am currently running two computers. One to record to( P3 1 Gig) and another to run softsynths(P3-600) I run them both through a Mackie 1604. I need an inexpesive card for the softsynth computer that has the ASIO drivers. Has anyone used the AUDIGY for just this purpose and would it suffice? I'm just looking to lower the latency and a quick ,temporary, inexpensive fix.
I know what every one thinks of the soundblasters here, but has anyone used the AUDIGY just for softsynths and had any luck? TIA

look at hoontech/staudio. for a cheap price you can get dsp24 value. that should be enough for you.

The Audigy was reviewed in this months Sound on Sound. They said it had well written ASIO driver but overall they didn't exactly consider it to be what it was cracked up to be.
