ASIO Problem

I've been running into some problems with dropouts using ASIO drivers with ntrack. Most recently, I've been trying to get MOTU HD192 to work with ntrack with asio drivers.

If I start with 7 tracks of 24bit 96k audio, and attempt to record 12 more, I start having problems with dropouts.

I got it working better when I de-selected "Process in Driver's thread" under the asio settings. Only problem there was that I started having a slight but noticable syncing problem between old and new tracks.

I'd be questioning the drivers or the computer, except I've had the same problem using 3 different PCs with different chipsets. I've also had the problem with Delta1010.

If I use Cubase, on the otherhand - which also uses ASIO - the program works fine.

So my suspicion is that Ntrack is not very efficient in its handling of ASIO drivers. Unfortunately, it looks like Motu's WDM drivers have that track offset/ sync problem.

Anyone out there also having trouble with ntrack & asio? - Dropouts only occur when stressing the system a bit - ie: recording 8-12 simultaneous 24bit 96K files.

ps - yes, I've tried different buffer settings. I've also tried tweeking just about every setting ntrack has. And I'm recording to a dedicated audio drive.

I haven't had any trouble with my 828mkII, yet I have only been recording @ 2448 which gives me enough dynamic range for my purposes.
I've heard of people being unsatisfied with the MOTU's converters running at 96kHz, yet you have the same issue with a 1010 and no problems with Cubase.

It will be interesting to see how well version 4 performs, whenever Flavio releases it. Soon Hopefully.

I've had nothing but problems with n-track and my motu 828 (original) card. I can't record a guitar part, vocal part or whatever after I've tried to lay down a drum track (pre-recorded wav file). I've been unable to record multiple tracks at once (well inputs 3-8). 1 and 2 work ok. I've scrapped n-track and will be trying out a friends nuendo 1.6 this week. I've been very frustrated. I almost sold my soundcard and went back to dedicated unit like the tascam 2488. Anyway, that's my rant.

Set myself up with a new system - AMD Opteron with Serial ATA 10K rpm HDs. This took care of the problem, and I can now safely work with up to about 40 tracks of 96K, 24bit. But Ntrack definitely has ASIO performance issues - shouldn't need such a souped up system to make it work.
