ASIO for Cakewalk 9 & Aark24 on XP?

I saw mention in my searches here of Home Studio making use of the ASIO drivers but what about older versions of Cakewalk?Should/can I use the ASIO drivers with Cakewalk Audio Pro 9 on XP? SC is Aark 24.
 
AFAIK you are restriced to MME drivers in PA9. WDM ability was introduced with Sonar, and ASIO was introduced with Sonar 2.1 (I think).
