Windows XP INSISTS on hanging my video card, BOTH USB buses, AND my Delta 66 off of IRQ 11! Needless to say, this is wreaking havoc on any recording attempts.

Any ideas on how I can convince windows to move the Delta 66 to it's own IRQ?
 
Try moving it to a different PCI slot. You might want to uninstall it before yanking it, I'm not sure the best way to do this.

The slot right net to the AGP slot is likely the worst place for it.

A;sp. you may be able to free up some stuff in the bios you aren't using that's taking up IRQs.
 
Doug's right.

Uninstall your card's software, with it's own uninstall program if it has one or through control panel if not.

Move the card as far away from the video card as possible.

Reinstall the card.

If you aren't using the USB ports, you can disable them.

Agreed....also if your bios allows it, you can instruct the PCI slot that the audio card is in not to share IRQ's.

This is a good tip, but not always true.

On some mainboards the first and last PCI slot are sharing IRQs, so I would say: "Move the card almost as far away from the video card as possible". ;)
 
Can't you go into BIOS at startup and turn off the auto IRQ assignment function? Just an idea. I don't use the first PCI slot by the AGP slot either.

one problem solved....

Thanks for all the input y'all! My Delta 66 is safely tucked away on it's own IRQ. Now all I have to figure out is why recorded tracks are out of sync. Seems I remember a few threads on the BBS about this....

(off to search I go!)
