ok guys this is doing my head in...i dont know which one to buy

- TASCAM 1804
- Maudio 1814
- Presonus Firepod
- Motu 828 mk2

getting a computer built and dont have any software but leaning towards cubase le/sx or m power protools, ideally buy it all packaged.

any advice (pros/cons)/experience would be muchly appreciated as im itching ot spend money!

or any other alternatives???

I have used the Firepod, and I own a Tascam 1804. Both are really fine pieces of equipment, but I ended up with the Tascam because it had better input monitoring and also ADAT inputs as well. And 4 line ins to bypass preamps instead of just 2 with the Firepod. However, now I am in a situation to upgrade to an RME interface, and I am currently selling my Tascam 1804 on ebay (I know this isn't the Ads Forum, but this just happened to be a coincidence) It's been a nice piece for me while I've had it. (which by the way hasn't been long, so it doesn't have much mileage)

If your interested check it out HERE

cool thanks for the reply...unfortunately i live all the way down under (western Australia)

another question- do i need to buy preamps (tube preamps) for all 8 inputs to use the tascam or any other of the other products?

sorry i shouldve posted this in the newbie section but any help is apprecitated.

The Tascam has 4 preamps already built on, and they're pretty clean and transparent. Then it also has 4 line ins that you can use other pres with. If you want, maybe we can work it out shipping wise. I've never shipped to Australia, so I have no idea how much it would be, but it still may be a better deal than new.

nah thats cool mate, i think shipping is quite a bit plus i can get the tascam for $800 AUS. but cheers for help.a friend of mine just got one but unfortunately he hasnt even had a chance to use it! let alone give me an opinion.
