I own a Triton and for over 3 years Ive been just playing my melodies out or using Event Edit..... a friend of mine told me try out arps, never tried them...
*Anyone else use them???? When??? What genre? Chords or single note? Just fill me in with a little incite on arpeggiators, what I heard so far has been an interesting topic.

It's like this...

Ya know when you pick a sound on the TRITON and a beat starts playing in the back ground behind the note you hit? May even change deoending on the not... That is a preset ARRPEGIATIOR runnning that little beat. Also you know some of those sounds where you hit a note and the shit goes nuts ( bluh, duh, dun, duh, ding) but it's not the efx processor and is in sync with the tempo all the time. That's the ARP...

Your best bet is to just mess with the ARP functions and see what it means to you. Once you get the drift you'll probably see how a lot of shit really is getting done now a days.

I've said too much...

You can't really expect cats to share all their secrets...

PS... I don't own a TRITON so I may be full of shit.... Peace...

Awwww man, Im aware of those preset arps on the Triton. I basically just want more incite on using the arp; I undestand cats have secrets and all and if you prefer you can hit me on AIM at "lilraydio" and we can talk then, I may know of some other techniques that can be usefull to you. Im not a newbie or anything to production, but I just never used arps.

Anyone else have good incite that they can add???

tried to get at you on aim but you wasnt talkin. I checked yo site and you seem to already be using arpeggiators so stay up playaa.

TRIED TO HIT YOU ON AIM AGAIN SAME SHIT DIFFERENT DAY

Noooooo, thats not my site, LOL. I dont make that type of music my friend. If you attempt to hit me on AIM then fine, if Im on my computer I will answer you, just like an average person I stray away from my computer without putting on the away function. Just hit me again, Ill try to be on for a while. Thank you for your help. Hehe. Peace!

Damn, I forgot that man number so Ill hit you when I get a lil time and get it from you. Man dude, a buddy of mine uses arps like nobodies business Spin, and da shit is hottt; plus he working wit the same board, he just be business as hell to get in contact with. When I get up with him, ill hit you up and get a CD from him for you to take a listen to. Peace!

Arps vary from synth to synth. Sorry I don't have a triton either... But the trick is to get them synced with the midi clock for the triton and/or other midi instruments. Try playing notes in a chord for the best effect usually.
Like I said, each synth normally has a slightly different style arppegiator on it as far as the control capabilities. Some are just synced to bpm, some go on a midi range of 1-128, and some go in beat measures, some do "masks" and sub arps, some do it all, but they don't all send midi data in an arp sequence, which sucks.
Try RTFM:D and you might be surprised what you can do. You'll goto another level if you master your arpeggiators.

Thanks subtractor, thing is... the Triton has Dual Arps that do just about all that you said. My thing is that Im not sure to play triads or just notes of a certain scale to get good results. Im used to just playing my melodies or program them in an external sequencer and be fine. I just agree with you and others when you say that if I master arps my production will be taken to another level. Ya know. Any more info?

RTFM???? Real Time Frequency Modulation???

See I wasn't bullshitting you... Best to just try em on your own...

Basically I see arps as being little ass preprogrammed sequence patterns.

I've done arps on a computer programs, the RM1X, and I had this little joint by OBERHIEM that did some dope arps (it's busted). The best arping i've ever done is with harps and guitar strum though... The only other stuff that came out cool was synths and just building a whole beat around a random arp. To me learning/knowing step programming and transposing is just as good as most arpeggiators. Arps can be kinda limited because if you don't set em up right they might hit notes you don't want. I really found it best to do sequencer edit tricks that emulate arpeggios rather than to actually program an arpeggiator. Simple things like spreading chords and what not...

You gotta ask some real specific questions now...

Thanks for the links Sub, even though I couldnt get the Korg links to work right =-(. Lazi that was a good drop too, and I totally see what you mean by messing with them.... but... I just found out that in addition to using the Triton's arps, my buddy also uses Fruity Loop's "Randomizer" or something like that and then just edits the patterns to his taste along with using his Triton arps. I guess falls into your category of using sequencer tricks. Well, I really want to know if I should play Triads or just hold the note for a duration of time. Another thing, for some reason, when I setup my arp on a setting other than every quarter note, it goes offbeat from the tempo and I mess around and have to quantize my arps... I must be doing something wrong; have a clue? Post away! Peace

You gotta have acrobat to read them. Try right clicking and "save target" and then open the file. Assuming you have adobe acrobat...

yeah, I got them working; I just had to to go to the source and download it and view it on my computer. RTFM huh?? LOL, I got the manual never read it much... I guess Ill read it now yo ha ha. Thanks for the info; anything else?

Raydio, hit me on my celly (about 1:00 PM on saturday). We'll roll through da' crib to holla' at cha!.

You probably was sleep around dat time, so ill have to get at cha at a later date. Today is Sunday, and tomorrow Im free from 8:00am - 3:00pm; i gotta be at dis gig at 4:30pm so after that Ill be the local night owl per'say. I also found a great opportunity that will be open this Thursday night at Harry's Velvet Room. An industry social, and the great thing about it is that it will consist of an older crowd and not too many independant rappers in search of Mr. A&R rep. Im pretty sure you will want to attend the event. Ill holla later though bruh, 1ne.
