Are you getting something guitar-related for Christmas?

New Nut saws and files and some new fret files and a new strait edge for me.
and possibly a new plunge router.

I don't know about getting, but I ran across a really good deal on a bunch of new cables a couple of weeks ago so my musician friends are getting new cables for Christmas.

xmas ??

my wife hates me ..... i aint gettin shit for xmas ....... execpt for my own place ?? maby ??

my fiance brought this 81 gibson sg that i bought in non-playing shape awhile ago to a luthier and is having it restored for my xmas present. can't wait to see what it's like when you can actually play it.

this particular model isn't produced anymore in favour of the tascam 2488 MkII. but i find this one to be plenty adequate. there are two drawbacks .... 2. there's no way to transfer the mixed down song to computer without burning a cd and then ripping it. (i hate that). but i find the rest of it's abilities outweigh this one (big) flaw.

Finally I can see a good reason Tascam came out with the Mark II so quickly. According to the manual, the Mark II appears to have an "Export Master" function that lets you export as a stereo WAV.

wow, i didnt' know that. maybe one day i'll upgrade.

My new LP was an early gift from Santa as well. :D

How are you getting along with that 2488, Nicole?

well except for the problem of getting the finished song to computer, i am getting along with it just fine. it's a dream to use. simple, intuitive, i even figured out the 250 virtual tracks thingy and how to use them :)

i'm giong to have to ask Rami how he converts from tascam 2488 cd to mp3. that's my only real problem.

I've a new guitar that I can't play till Christmas day. Looks purty. Anybody else get gear for christmas?

That would drive me nuts!

I've got some goodies on my wishlist and the significant other always comes through. I've been hinting towards an expansion module for the Mackie MCU and a set of ultra-comfy Beyer headphones for those long tracking/practice sessions. Santa almost always leaves me a year supply of guitar strings...infact. I'm just now getting at the end of last year's supply :D

That's easy, I think.

When you master a song and then burn a CD, you are creating a standard CD audio file. You should be able to stick that CD in your computer and use any audio application that you would normally use to rip CDs to MP3. I think the latest versions of Windows Media Player will do that, as well as MusicMatch Jukebox (or any number of free audio players).

well, my media player rips it into wma format and it says i need additional plug ins to convert to mp3. i have a free converter, but it doesn't seem to see the cd in the drive though everything else does. i'll try music match :) thanks.

I got this

My brother built it for me. It's got a hand carved top and back. The back and sides are mahogany, the top is spruce. The inlay is hand made buddist mudra hand symbols and my initials. The bridge is temporary until we make a one piece. Cool brother eh?

It doesn't quite have the bass response of my gibson acoustic but I really like what it does. I used it in this song just to try it out if you want to hear the guitar. For one of the guitar tracks I used the light half of a pack of strings for a twelve string on it and left if slightly detuned. It's not much of a recording but that's the guitar I used.
