Hey everybody
I've just started working with sonar 2 XL (from cool edit pro) so i'm kindof still learning.
My question has to do with applying effects (destructivly) to a track.
Say for example that i was putting an echo on a part of my voclas. When i put the echo on, it sounds good but once the effect is over, there is a very obvious change in the sound of the track. The volume changes and what not.
How do i go about smoothing over the area between where an effect is added and where is stops
Thanks for the help

Use different tracks with different volumes if you have to desctructively apply effects.

The easiest is to have the effect as RealTime Effect, and then control it with envelopes (right click on the track and go Envelopes -> Create New Envelopes -> Your effect at the bottom, this only works with DX8-effects).

i agree. deffinitly use effects encelops. also remember to save on cpu load, try applying effects to trks. after you have them the way you want good luck.

thanks
Yes i've read a bit about enevlopes and they do sound like the way to go. what is a DX8 effect as opposed to other effects?

Nothing mutch, but DX8 effects are automatable... ;)

how does one kjnow which effects are DX8 and which are not? my menu does not say anything about what kind of effect it is. Thanks

I dont believe it would show up in your Sonar menu if it were not dx8 compatible.

hmmm well if all the effects i have are DX8 then my problem persists. I added delay in real time and there were no options to evelope it in the envelope menu.....

I was informed that any of the effects in Sonar that have the fx extension on them like "delayfx" "reverbfx" that they would be automatable. Others would not.
