Are the "Aaahs" too loud?

I recently recorded a song called "One Summer Night," which can be found at www.nowhereradio.com/champions/singles

In the chorus there are some high aahhs and low aahhs. I sometimes think the lows are too loud.

I'm interested in others' opinions (on this or any other topic)

Yeah, something's not right with them. Maybe it's the highs that aren't loud enough?

But I think a better way to deal with it would be to sing the part in a different way. The way they're tracked the "ahs" are kind of "throaty". Maybe sing them more "breathy" - best words I can come up with. In other words, don't tense up the throat while singing, and sing them with a sort of "half-whisper." I think they'd be more subtle if they were sung in a more subdued manner.

Hey I loved that guitar sound. What kind of guit and how did you track it (which mic? how was it positioned? etc.)

Another thing to try with the backing vox is to double track them. Then you can pull the levels back on the tracks. Sometimes you can get a "fuller" sound without needing to increase the level on the track(s).

I double tracked them and lowered the levels. I think I like the new version better. I'll upload it soon.

Regarding the guitar sound- Its not complicated at all. Just a Tacoma Chief plugged directly into my Audigy sound card with some reverb on it. It actually has a decent sound for such a quick and dirty method.

I must be hearing the 2nd version. The ahhs were too low volumewise IMO. I also hear some pitch issues here and there.

that was the first version. the second version, with better aahs is now up.

thanks for your comments everyone

Absolutely not shitting you... but the song I'm working on RIGHT now has "AaaaaH" bgv's, too...

...so yeah... go ahead and say I ripped off your idea :D

...Seems like the lead vox go flat on held notes... guitar playing is good, but I couldn't get into the way it was recorded... sounded a bit too dark for my tastes...

Your BGVs are fine... would like a more dynamic lead, but this is probably a scratch demo anyway?

Good start!
