Are SSD's worthwhile?

I have 2 40 Gbyte Intel SSD drives and I really like the boot time speedup.

One problem is that the flash based models have a finite number of writes that can occur before failure.
They use wear leveling algorithms to reduce the number of sequential writes and will relocate sectors with
high write counts automatically. Many models also carry spare sectors that can be used if write errors occur.

I've been hammering mine for a couple of years without any problem.
 
Gonna be a huge improvement on a 5400 spin. 7200 is good compromise. The Spinpoint F3s I use at the moment are actually better than 10 000 spin raptors in real world use. Unfortunately, hard drives have gone up a massive amount recently because of Thailand floods. So it could be good to wait until prices go down again.
