I checked out the information for spotting the conterfeit Oktava's here: http://www.oktavausa.com/HHT-MK012.htm

And my mic's seem to pass except for a couple of inconsistencies.
#1 - No serial number?
#2 - I did get them as a 99 dollar deal from Guitar Center, and they have the "A.S.M" brand on them.

However, the case/clip/everything else looks right and they do have a 10db pad included. These couple of inconsistencies led me to wonder though...

Alright. I contacted Oktava directly, and they pretty much told me that not all Russian ones will nessecarilly have the serial number - and that if it's consistent the other way's it's probably Russian. Anyone know what the ASM thing is about?

I've had some Oktava 012's for about four years, long before I heard anything about Chinese knock-offs. They have A.S.M. stamped on them, and no serial numbers. They have the proper clip, the pad, and came in the little black case as well. They meet all the descriptions of the Russian ones.

Im pretty sure the ones you guys are talking about are the kind that were made in Russia for sale in the US. They should be exactly like the russian ones, but have no serial number, and have "Oktava MC 012-01" and "A.S.M." printed on the body.
