are balanced and shielded auido cables same thing

Hello

as the topic suggests are balanced audio cables and shielded audio cables the same thing or are they different. I need balanced cables to elimante ground loop noise and just wondered if they are the same or not.

No. Shielding is the "wrap" to the cable itself, which can shield against electromagnetic interference. "Balanced" refers to the audio actually being split into positive/negative signals, thus the different connector (hot/cold/ground) vs the standard connector on unbalanced cables.
