what's the general opinion on these heads? im thinking about buying a pre-pack of them. My friend had them on his toms and i really liked the way they didnt ring out for ages on them, and from what i hear they handle low tuning very well, and i tend to like lower-pitched toms. any opinions? and does anyone near shelby/mansfield ohio have a decent used bass drum batter head i could use? mine is DEAD and i cant afford a new one. i bought a shitty kit from some kid for 15 bux and all the heads are gone except for the resonant kick head and the snare-side head.

Those are the only heads I use, I have an Aquarian Super Kick II on my kick. You MUST make sure that the heads are in proper tune for them to sound good on deep-well toms.. (which is what I have as well.)

I like the way the heads feel and sound behind the kit...

I tracked this song with those heads... (From my home studio)...

I just changed my heads (whole kit) to the Studio-X coated. So far I'm thinking they're pretty shweet! I had been wanting to try them for a while. I use to use Remo emperors and liked a dead tone... so I used folded tape for dampening. Then I bought a kit a couple years ago that had Remo Ambassadors on them. I started liking that open sound... probably because the drums were better sounding to start w/... well after a year & 1/2 I started w/ the tape again to tone down the ring and I think these Studio-X are nice compromise... not dead but not ringing. Anyway, it might be a little to soon to say but I think I found the sound I've been wanting. I'll try and remember to report back in a week or so after I've really had a chance to take em in.

Also... I had a Evens EQ3 on my kick and thought it was ok... also used some dampening in the kick. I put the Super Kick II and Regulator w/ 5" hole on and w/ No dampening my kick has really come around... I'm actually super excited about it and am going to be experimenting w/ it.

Jwoo10- Nice Job! Not just the kit but the whole recording is nice.

Good Luck,
B.

I actually got to mess with a friend's drumset at his home studio yesterday in Atlanta and he had the Studio-X on his snare. It was very very good. I'm definitely gonna try to get at least one for the snare on my "studio drums". I'll probably try the other studio-x heads too. I've got those remo rings on my toms and stuff right now, but I'm not sure if I like them. They kind of deaden the sound too much.
