Apogee Rosetta...

What do you all think of the Apogee Rosetta 96k A/D Converter? Is it considered to be pretty good? (I have NO knowlege of these things...)

Nice units - You can probably scam them on ebay pretty cheap right now also with the 200 coming out...

Well there are low range, mid range and high end convertors. Apogee are middle of the pack in the high range. Many albums are done on them.

By the way...being a "newbie" to this forum does not neccessarily mean that one is a "newbie" to life in general. And as for the money...well, what money I do have has come from being a professional singer for the past 12+ years.

Now I'm a "professional singer" who wants to know more about (and do more) recording.

The Rosetta is nice if you're only going to be tracking 2 tracks at a time. But if, say you had a singing group with 5 singers on 5 seperate mics who liked to sing live in the studio to get the right blend, then it would hold you back. An AD16 would give you 16 channels at a time, so you could record vocals and a band all at the same time of you wanted to.

Just something to think about, not sure of your exact needs.

Oh, the new rosetta is 8 channel, so that may be the ticket for you, too. I just saw that.
