Actually I just tried one last night. I compared compared it too the following
AKG 3000
AKG D112
AT
ATM35
Shure SM57
Shure SM58
AKG D95
Univox Omni
AKG 3700
It did quite well. It has nice upper frequencies and solid low end. I tried it on voice, ACU GTR and ELEC GTR, it did well is all three applications. I prefered it to AKG 3000 in all applications, but I liked the sound of SM-57 on the ELEC GTR. Actually I purchased the whole SP2 kit pack, but will be returning it today, and just buying
the Apex 460.
The Apex 185's were ok and quite truthfull to sound, but did not handle much SPL, and quite frankly nothing I don't already have.
The Apex 415 was again alright, but I could find an aplication where I prefered its sound, to any of my other mics.
What need now are some good tom mics any suggestions?
