It's 7 songs, and it's from a Puerto Rican artist who does Reggaetone. I was hoping one of the Pro's here could DL it and take a listen in their spare (haha) time? It's almost completely in Spannish too... But if anyone could lend an ear to the sonic quality, I'd appreciate it.

Any crticism is welcomed. In my opinion, the mixes that were supplied to me, weren't horrible, but weren't great either... I truly appreciate it.

its like 250mb, im pretty sure no1 will touch it. convert it to 320kbs mp3 and people will be more than happy to help. also these posts are generally put in the mp3 mixing forum, but dont cross post it now!

It's in full wav format. Posting it in MP3 format yeilds me no benefit, as too many frequencies are stripped away. Anyone on a high-speed connect can DL it in about 3 minutes.

I didn't post it in the mixing clinic, as I'm not concerned with the mix. I'm concerned with the overall quality of the masters, as an entire project.

So, I understand most will not want to DL it and give me opinions but, hopefully someone interested in helping me learn and grow as an engineer will lend a hand. Thanks though.

Well, unfortunately, MP3s are a popular medium. So you can understand how MP3 encoding and mastering have become essential in 2006.

Well, I'm DLing right now on DSL, looks like it will take 22 min. This better be worth it :D ;)

quick listen, first off: bass is pretty outrageously loud at times...

I feel like the problems over all with the mixes are all at the mix stage, not mastering stage...

but overall, yeah it's fine? not positive what you are wondering about really now that i'm actually listening...haha

It sounds OK but there are still some issues with the EQ. For example in the bass end, the low low bass is weak, but the mid bass is way too hot. The midrange overall is missing in action, especially on the vocals. Kind of a smiley face EQ shape. In the mix I feel like the backing vocals are weak, I think I would compress those a lot harder. The lead could be more in my face, too. Some of the sung parts in "Mi Testimonio" are off pitch, and the kick in that track is way hot.

Still needs work, but I think it should work out OK.

Surely to assess the mastering job we'd have to hear the mix you were given to work with as well? How is the listener supposed to determine what was done at the mixing stage and what you did in terms of mastering?

Not that I'd be qualified to comment anyway. :o
