my band has zero money.
If you are bored and want to exercise your mastering abilities, heres a link-

thats sounds alot better. what exactly did you do to it??

yeah ok

there it's done.....

ok my dumb point is this... generally if you were going to give something to M.E. they would like it to be btween -25 -17 RMS generally with -17 being the peaks generally your track there is pretty solid at -13 rms and the type of sonic make that it has compression will be an issue (what i'm saying is it's not a Grunge song basically)...

the point is a M.E. (which i'm not) will want you to, NOT already compress, you see it's like a muso handing a track to a mixer and saying:

"here, there's the Guitar track I didn't like the dry sounds so i added heaps of Reverb, it should sound GREAT!"

?

having said all that, Compression be DAMed I love it Personally i'll run it though and see what happens! yay:

i'll come back to you with this one :)

haha i have complied compression already to the track. should i post this again without it?

Once you have created the stereo mixdown, the mixing is over. Anything you do to the stereo mix after that is part of amateur "mastering". If you want someone to amateur "master" for you, then don't do half the job for them.

Oh, and BTW, as long a this forum seems to be the place for folks to ask others to provide free services: I have an eave on my house that needs a custom-bent strip of aluminum siding replaced, and I don't feel like spending the money on renting a bender, let alone the aluminum. Anybody feel like doing it all for me for free, just for fun?

I ain't gonna rent a bender, but I don't mind spending the money to go on a bender :D

Nice song, but If the mix is similar on bass frequencies (muddy bass guitar) to 3 other versions you put on mp3 clinic, the "free or not" is not the only issue. Is "strongly not ready for mastering".

It's just musicians helping musicians. I don't think any "pro's" are giving away their services for free.....

Anyway, I spent a grand total of about 15 minutes mastering this, so it probably blows, plus, I suck at mastering, and I only listened on my monitors, so, here ya go -

You can hear your buss compressor pumping, nothing I can do about that.....

Me too. The O.P. might consider uploading a 24-bit PCM version perhaps...?

1's and 0's are free also.

Hi Lee, I understood the "if you´re bored" thing.

I took a good time listening all the "mastering" (well, are mp3), and everybody is doing a good job and improving the original .Tim and NL5 did a nice treatment to the (nice and well played )song.

Truth:Bass guitar is muddy.IMO, is a "re-mix" situation(correct me If I´m wrong, I would like to believe in "mastering miracles":)

Man,I tried a lot of eq, "hunting" the bass GTR .It´s not "there"...:D

Uh-oh. You mean this isn't a contest to see who can do the best mastering while high on crack?:o
Oh man oh man oh man oh man...I''m already halfway done with that....

I basically used some ep to try and bring the vocals out more. A stereo enhancer. And a limiter.

Thanks CIRO.

I enjoyed listening to NL5's and AMcB's version.

I didn't push the loudness of mine at all, just tried to even out the overly dynamic elec gtr and boomy bass gtr. (Though each of those would really be better processed separately during mixdown.) I only added back enough gain to compensate for the gain reduction of the MB comp I used. That was probably an oversight, as RMS level is no doubt a important issue in this genre.

I tried a touch of stereo widening using the new Flux plug, but I didn't think the mix benefited from it.

It is quite a good song and performance. The acoustic gtr has an especially nice sound, BTW.
