I don't mean to be be down on any other groups of people...but drummers man, they're the least judgemental. Guitarists are a dime a dozen; seems like that might create a lot of competition.

"ur trak sux dude wtf wer u thinkin haha my dog culd play scails better than that"

if i thought it was crap i'd never have offered............. lighten up..........it's fun, lets hear one of yours then

N ur dog...............bring it on dude

No man, you misread me - I meant that if it were a drummer asking for guitar in a guitar forum, it easily could have more likely turned into a bitter contest with the guitarists dissing each other........
I find drummers (being less popular) generally are much more amicable towards one another.

it's cool i understand what your saying, i'm getting plenty sent to
me and enjoying it...and knowing thats a software track
it's well done

OK, I'm still waiting on 2 SM58's and another AT3035, but I thought (since I didn't go into work today... shhhh) that i would tinker some more with my new kit.... I have been strictly Electronics for the past few years but decided to trade it all in for the last acoustic set I would ever own... So now I'm 'reteaching' myself how to record my drums... lol

Again, this was done with a bit of a hodgepodge of mics but I was having fun...

Give it about 15 minutes or so and the upload should be done...

i like your version to, sitting with a friend listening to them all,
what did you use?

I'm still putting together a decent drum mic locker, but this was done using an AKG C414 B as a room mic, an AT3035 above the snare as an OH, AKG D112 on the kick and an SM57 on the snare.

Rest of the chain was an ADA8000 Ultragain preamp (allows me to run 8 channels ADAT out via lightpipe) into a Fostex VF16.

Drums are a custom set made with 6 ply Keller maple shells on all the toms and 18x22 8 ply Keller maple kick drum.

I just bought 3 SM 58's for toms and I'm expecting a 2nd AT3035 today so I'll probably be experimenting some more...

:)

Sorry for the gap, but I just wanted to say a BIG thanks to Scotsman, bentrabbit, pepsodent, and Markaholic for their drum tracks.

And thanks to Homerecording.com for being such a awesome place, Ive learned so much since joining and its just an amazing resource for all kinds of things.

One more drum track

Are you still looking for another drum track played on your tune?
I should be able to put it together this week...

C0r1n and dwkman, if you guys would like to do it, Id love to have you do it!

Thanks
Ajay

I know most of these versions were done over a month ago, but I thought the song was really cool, so I decided to give it a go. I basically did just a rough mix to set levels, pan and threw a little EQ onto the tracks.

I had alot of fun doing it and I hope you like it.

I have a .wav version (36.1MB) here:

Mercury Rising .wav version

and an .mp3 version (8.2MB) here:

Mercury Rising .mp3 version

Oh, and I recorded the song before listening to anyone else versions, so I hope I didn't steal anyone's ideas :)

Thanks a ton guys, I never expected such a turnout.

What really amazing and cool to me is how different all the drum tracks are, and how each drum tracks changes the feel and adds such a different flavor to the same song.

Thanks agains,

Ajay

Ha im gunna give it ago now!

Okay so this was done very quick and im not just saying that, I diddnt use a metranome because i diddnt have time to cut the silence at the beggining off of the song so that it would play in time to the metranome so i just played along with the music!! The one i am posting i did on my second attempt so i diddnt know at which point in the song i should be louder or do differnt things. :o

I think the kick and the snare sounds like complete Sh+t! I have tried loads of differnt placements for mics on the snare and it still sounds like crap  i ended up using one fake sm57 under the snare and one sm58 on top.

The cybals sound like sh+t but they sound like that anyway (Zildjian ZBT cymbal set  ) But i cant aford anything new for the Kit because of spending all my money on recording that damn thing!

Yer actually its pretty crud full stop. recording and playing wise. Oh well. Ill post it so there are more ideas floating around
