I have been working on recording a solo project of death metal kids songs. I ran into a mixing dilemma, I don't have studio monitors...I have a pair of akg k44 headphones that I do all my tracking through. If anyone would like to mix and master my tracks for me, that would be awesome. We could just trade emails off, i will send the tracks, you mix them and master them for me. The more the merrier!

Now, while Monitors are amazing, don't let it stop you from at least testing mixes.

I've mixed every song I ever created on some 50 dollar Altec speakers haha;
It's not monitoring by any means, like at the studio I record at,
But if you can get yourself accustom to the sound of your speakers,
You can tell where you should be hitting with mixes.

I will try a mix and others...post stems over at mixoff.org and see if you get the mix you want.

better off posting song by song if you have more than one song.

Right on, yeah, i have tried to mix with my headphones but I never get the result i want. Every reference i check my mixes on come out either to bassy, something don't come through loud enough, etc. And I do have a few songs recorded if you guys wanna check them out, they are rough still. I think that I have them downloadable at reverbnation.com/seedband1. It may present a challenge to some, because i play a baritone 7 string guitar.

Can you post link to your reverbnation page...I searched for you but didnt get any results.

Curious as to what the music sounds like.

It's different lol. I have two little kids, and as a metal head, i didn't wanna listen to lady gaga and junk like that. So i took it upon myself to record some classic nursery rhymns in a death metal approach. SEED (System Erased Eradicate Design) | Edgewood, IL | Metal / Educational / Death Metal | Music, Lyrics, Songs, and Videos | ReverbNation should be the url. I did the drums, vocals, guitars, but I am gonna redo some things. I don't have bass tracks, I did these along time ago, so they are probably single tracked guitars, I am quad tracking guitars now, I need to throw bass tracks down on them, and re-record my vocal tracks too. But that will give you an idea of what you will be dealing with.

Are the drums real or programed...just wondering what I would be dealing with mixing wise...are there drum stems...kick snare overheads room ect.

need reference mixes...you have any suggestions for songs or bands to listen to that do this type of guitar stuff...I want to listen to what their mixes sound like.

I will search youtube once I get a few song or band names

It will be a learning experince to try a mix...cant say it will turn out good however its worth a try.

They are Ezdrummer DFH tracks, and I would say bands like the acacia strain, periphery, beneath the massacre, meshuggah, that would be a good starting point, because of the low tunings that are used by these bands.

Did a youtube search....mixes sound interesting...Kick sounds pretty dry and not much low end...toms sound big with perhps verb...Guitar and bass will be a challenge to find the right eq settings.

Are you going to post tracks for mixing here or at mixoff...if posted at mixoff you will have more mixes and choices to choose from.

I haven't even heard of mixoff so I will post tracks up, do you do individual tracks or whole mixes?

Basically how it works at mixoff.

post your individual tracks for song.

Example

Guitar
Bass
Keys
Kick
snare
OHL
OHR
Room
Hats
Ride
Tom1
tom 2
tom 3

And then people download the tracks and mix...be nice if you mention bpm of song as well.

If your song doesnt have bass yet I would probably record bass before posting so its a complete song for mixing.

Most people at mixoff use dropbox...create an account...choose public folder and upload tracks then post link.

Keep in mind dropbox has a 300 MB file size limit when uploading from site...you could always put drum tracks in one file and zip it then upload and post link...then put guitar bass vocals and other in another zip file and upload...try and keep each zip under 300 MB...you have a total of 2 GB of storage for free with one account...I think you may be able to upload larger files bigger than 300MB if you download dropbox...not 100% sure about that though...I just upload using the website.

If you already know about dropbox just ignore this part of the post.

I know alittle about drop box because of previous bands going to studios. I will get to it then, and post details about it.
