Hello,
I'm thinking about getting the tascam tm-d1000,the pci822 and a new pc as an upgrade path from my tascam 4 track recorder.Need more tracks and the ability to try alternate takes and mixes. So far of the few software demo's i've tried,i'm leaning towards Cool Edit Pro.In the long run,I will probably use more than one program.I like the simplicity of cool edit for editing, but for recording and mixing I still am not satisfied with anything i've played with.I was going to have a pc custom made for audio, but here lately i'm leaning towards a Dell because of price mainly.I've done lots of research so I am aware of the complexities of mixing with a digital mixer.I am mainly wondering if anyone has a setup close to what I'm thinking about getting, and how well it is working for them.I've been thinking about going digital for a long time, and all the choices available are driving me nutz cause none of them have everything I want and are still simple to use.The tascam sounds like it might be a decent solution, and is fairly cheap.
Another option I'm thinking of is a Delta 1010 card and Alesis's studio24 or a mackie mixer(this is pricier than the tascam idea though).
anyhow,I look forward to your input
thanks,
JT
