Hi,

I'm looking at upgrading the DAW and the traveller sounds perfect for me. However, I am a PC person.

If anyone out there is using a Traveller with a PC, just wondering what PC you're using processor/mobo/memory wise. I'm not keen on switching to Mac at this juncture.

Also, I'm interested in switching from Cubase LE to Sonar4, if you can comment on that in the context of using it with the MOTU.

Thanks,

JD

I'm not using a Traveler, but a Motu828mkII on an XP laptop/CubaseSE with ZERO problems.

Just make sure your firewire chipset is Lucent or Texas Instruments.

As for sequencers, they don't care.... anything that hooks properly into your OS will be used by the Cubase or Sonar.

I have an 828mkII I use with Sonar PE3&4 (so obviously PC) and never had any problems. If the Traveler was out when I was buying my rig, I probably would have went that route. It looks pretty sweet to me. I've also used the included Audio Desk on a Mac, and that's allright too. If I was buying a new rig, I'd probably buy a mac and updgrade to DP5 (the first DAW I ever used was DP3, so there's a nostalgia factor, hehe)

I'm a big MOTU supporter.

Yah, the quality seems very good at that price point, given 4 preamps with enough umph to use ribbon mics. If I could swing a MAC as a dedicated DAW box, I would, but they're a titch pricey brand new.

My university surpluses computers sometimes, and occasionally they'll have a G4 for like $250. Is that enough of a processor to run multitracking on DP?

Just curious,

JD
