Hi has anyone got or has in the past any experience in using these two together? Any tips. Does anyone know anything about setting the Mackie Controls in Cubase?

Yeah man...
Go to:
1) Devices ---> Device management
2) The screen that pop up is split in 2. The left part has a "+", click on it and select "Mackie Control"... that will setup automatically your Midi Controller... On the right side of the screen you will be able to make any modification that you want. For the knobs or faders.
See? very easy.
