I saw that book at borders the other day and flipped through it. It looked interesting, but most of the material was covered in other recording books I own. (I only flipped through it so this is by no means a review)
just my 2 cents,

I have that exact book. It comes with a cd wich includes micing samples of electric and acoustic guitar. The guy actually recorded the thing in his kitchen. The mics he uses range from cheap sm57 to the elite u47. I wasnt all that impressed. I did enjoy reading the interviews he did with real engineers. He dicusses different micing techniques which a lot of them sound the same. Most of the things discussed in the book can be found in other places. www.studiocovers.com for instance. It was interesting to see that the difference between mics wasnt all that huge like I thought it would be.
