Anyone Upgrade to Sonar X3 Producer?

It was a little pricey ($149) but among other added features it comes with Addictive Drums which IMHO has some very good sounding kits and patterns. Just wondering if anyone else took the plunge and what you like/dislike about it.

I upgraded.
We are already at X3b.
Right now Sonar is rock solid. It appears to be a little quicker, snappier and the Audio Engine hasn't choked at all. (I had that issue with X2a).
I am sure that you have seen the updates that are included. The VST3 support, the ARA support and the inclusion of Melodyne are great.
My opinion is to stop thinking about it and do it.
I already had Addictive Drums, but it is still worth the upgrade. All my opinion of course.

I suspect I was one of the first to upgrade. The improvements in the Gloss (Quad) EQ in the pro channel are worth the cost of the upgrade to me. Lets me dump a couple more 32 bit plugins. The ARA integration with Melodyne is real slick and it is sooo cool to be able to drag an audio track to a MIDI track and have it automagically converted.

Thanks for the heads up on being at version X3b.

Upgraded straight away.

Everything is snappier and more polished, no crashes after many hours of use.

The EQ in prochannel now has a zoom-in pop out display with a built in spectrum analyser.

Cakewalk really listened to what people were asking for and X3 is a marvellous update!

I haven't upgraded form X2a yet, but intend to pretty soon.

The new features are enough to get anyone moist.

Umm NO! Still using X1 with no problems. I might upgrade if I get a windfall, otherwise there are tooooo many other gadgets and apparatuses that I want/need. I have a limited budget and DAW's are not included.

Sticking with X2 for now. Runs great on WinXP and I can't afford a new computer at this time.

Some of the new features look really great, but I doubt my circa-2005 XPS can take advantage of all of them.

Nope. I didn't.

After starting with Sonar Studio 6, and upgrading each time all the way up to X2a Producer, I bought Cubase 6.5 which gave me an auto upgrade to Cubase 7 in June. Got a great deal for it.

I'm liking it too much to go back to Sonar.

I also have most of the goodies that come with, including Melodyne Editor [not Essential], and all the Nomad Factory plugs I want. So no temptation to jump.

Also, I didn't like the 'new price' of $149 vs. the usual $99 for Producer - especially since the whole X2a abandonment smozzle - seemed somewhat unfair to charge even more than usual, if anything.

First time I didn't go for their upgrade/update.

Interesting to see the crashes & bugs start to pop up on the forums there though.

But many seem happy with it and claim it's fairly stable. Some others - not so much.

I'm not sure I'll jump into X3 that soon.... I have my copy of X1 which I never use... I stick with my 8.5.3 PE until I feel into learning the new workflow...

I just switched to X2PE after buying a new computer and won't be upgrading because the price is too high and there are no features that I need or want. For $149 I could buy a lot of things I would use more.

Agreed.

I recently got Nectar Elements and RX3 basic.

And 3 guitars from AmpleSound.

And 5 things from the Orange Tree Samples.

Uh-oh - pretty sure I've passed the $149 mark already!

Good thing I no longer do Christmas!

X3 is fantastic. There is even a patch X3b out for it already. They have really tried to make this a top of the line DAW. I also highly highly highly recommend "Mixing with Sonar" from the Groove3.com site. I watched it last night (5 hours of video). I've been using Sonar for about 10 years and this video really taught me some of the advanced mixing tricks that can really make a mix sound much more professional. Just make sure you get the version of Sonar that includes the pro channel (X3 studio or producer).

X3c fixes a few bugs. I'm very happy with the upgraded engine. So much new stuff! Will take months to try everything out.

X3c is absolutely superb.

On my system, it's now virtually gap free, rock solid and comes bundled with enough Fx plugs & vsti's that you really have no need for 3rd party plugins.
