They are way cheaper than the popular mk 12

One down I see on them is the cable is attached to the mike, you cant disconnect it.

But I guess thats just a stupid detail, it all comes down to the sound and realiability

I've seen those. I think they're battery powered no?

I saw that and the fixed cable and just assumed they were cheapos for old tape decks or something.

Maybe that wasn't fair?

Dont really know. I dont even know it they run on batteries. Even if they do I wouldnt discard them.

I guess it all comes down to the sound quality

HERE are some without the fixed cable.
I've been watching them.

But the ones with fixed cable go for 75 dollars! Would you pay more than twice just for the cable?

Have you had any axperience with them? Im really interested and want tome opinions

No not those but the 012's which have exchangeable heads for the three different polar patterns. And on top of that they have been modified by Oktavamod. Look HERE all over his site.

Man those mods look really sweet!

The mk 012s are also al option, but I would have to save up in order to get those. Are they as good as their reputation?

Oh yes. but they are in a long list of other SDC that are the big bang for the buck.

The older version of Soviet Oktava MKE 2 is 79 dollar.. what is the difference between older and newer version?

Doesn't say. My guess is that there is no battery in the newer version minis the attached cord -- then they switched over to the 012's

I like the 012's with interchangable capsules and attenuator. Damn fine mics. I've never used these however. The capsules are fixed on them.
