How about this bass here, I've got an option on it for €45.
It's advertised as home built, but I'm pretty sure the neck and hardware are from another old Jap bass.

Me too. I don't have any Jap oddballs, but they sure are cool.
Many of them are pretty junky. But they can be gotten pretty cheap and fixed to be great players.
A guitar doesn't have to say Gibson, Fender, or PRS on the headstock to be cool. In fact, nothing with PRS on the headstock is cool.

I have this same bass. But mine is sunburst with a black pick guard. It's Branded 'Harmony'
