I was able to secure a couple of boxes of the Quantegy 456 1/4" x 10.5" x 2500' tape (10 tapes per box). These are all new and most recent stock (newest batch) and came in a sealed box from a Quantegy distributor here in town. (I just opened the box to take some picts and show its contents). Call me nuts but I basically bought out their entire remaining 456 stock - 2 boxes. Will have to either sell or auction off the one box, to finance my other box! LOL!! :D Anyway, here's some photos. If anyone's interested then let me know. Make me an offer. If this fails then I'll eBay it sometime next week or thereafter. God help us all .. ;) :D

Looking at the date, on the box, which seems to be the 120th day of 2003, and then reviewing my own words from the original post, I feel I probably mis-spoke about the tapes being "most recent" and "newest". They are new, for sure, and not old at all, but I wasn't precise. If the date is correct, as I assume I deciphered correctly, then I should have perhaps used different language to describe their "life". I would have said something like this: The tapes I picked up from a distibutor here locally a couple of days ago. It's all they had left. This batch dates April, 2003.

Anyway, my bad and apologies to all if any offence was taken. :(

Daniel,

I was just going to send you an email. They are from 2003, but I would have no problem calling that "newest." They are new as tape goes. If it's unopened and only a few years old, I call it new. :)

Alright, thanks Tim!

Much appreciated help, as always! ;)

Wow,... pics!!

That's like analog-geek porn!!!

If anyone's interested, I may sell off one at a time.

$35 USD per tape + shipping. (If via PayPal then an additional 2.9% for their fees).

Thanks,

Daniel

Daniel,

You should ebay these beauties. I would grab a few but all my 1/4" machines are 7". :)

I was even told (by ARP Dave) that I should keep 'em ;) . Tempting indeed but .... I spent so much money on extra gear and tapes I bought recently, that it's getting ridiculous and expensive! Yeah, I may eBay them but am now wondering if I should do it one by one or the whole lot ...

Thanks Tim,

Daniel

I would probably do one or two at a time. It takes more time, but you spread them around that way. I don't know though, with the way things are in the tape world it's a tough call.
