anyone like the M147? i don't get it

a friend lent me a neumann m147 tube mic.

i've been trying it out on vocals and acoustic guitar, can't get great sounds out of it! keep going back to my 4033.

any tips with this mic?

The 147 pretty much sucks for vocals, it is more useful on kickdrums, bass etc....

and guitar amps!
Me and my tech classmates had a project once at a large pro studio, where we had to mic some amps and a drumkit. 1 of the amps, a Vox AC30 was miced with the M147 and a SM57... After we played back, we threw the SM57 away...
The M147 was so warm, clear and smooth...
 
I heard the m147 in a blind vocal mic shootout, and it was pretty disgusting, worse than some mics costing less than $500.
