OK, back to actually being on Topic, I was over at PMI when the CS were first starting to ship. Brent showed me the newer capsules thos mics use and talked about the new production techniques they are using. It appears that 797 is getting better at doing this. The grill housing gives a better overall sound from the C series. I say if there were a mic you liked from the C series, the CS is a definite step up.
wow-- what kind of capsule is that in z's mic? is that a 6205 tube again? edcor transformer?
didn't you end up using a metal tube in your u47 mic phil (ef12, ef14 or v14?)? how do you think they compare to the subminiatures? what kind of transformer did you end up using?
oh yeah-- what's with your personal awesome mics-- specs & components?
That is awesome and I am jealous Z. I've seen those Dale M7 threads on DIY and wished I had the mic making skillz. Its a Dale Ulan M7. The tube is indeed a 6205. The X-former is a Cinemag. I have the laminations insulated because they sit so close to open parts of the circuit.

You will and it will be totally badassDon't know about the EF14. I tried it in another mic and had a problem getting a PS to heat the filament right. I'm hoping to get it going in one of these.
Nice-- I remember that whole Soundelux deal. I was hoping it was a prototype for a PhilGood production micThe one you're looking at is one I built from a Soundelux e47 frame I had. There was no sleeve, so I had one (actually 3) machined. The machinist and I were talking about doing all the parts and making a small batch. It's expensive to have all the parts cut. I may do all the future stuff with Marik. This guy had already started when Marik and I were talking about it, so I had to finish with this guy.

The transparent "board" looks awesome btw
