There really isn't much to it. In its simplest form, it just puts all the ins and outs of all your equipment in one spot. If you set it up half normalled, that mens that thing 1 is normally hooked to thing 2, unless you stick a cable into the output of thing 1 at the patchbay.

It is kind of a goofy thing to explain, maybe if we take one question at a time it would be easier. There are so many things you can do with a patchbay.

I'm interested in knowing how to use a patchbay to send external effects to an already recorded track (on Cubase sx 2.2). I'm using an Aardvark Q10.

mhf,
kinda got the same question, found some info, read some info,
but forgot how to connect everything;..damn

so how does it work again ? the most simple way,

is the top row the inputs , and the bottom the outputs ?

so if i'm correct i can just connect all my Fx and compressors to the back of the patchbay,

and if i wanna connect a few instruments to my fx, i can just plug it in the
front, and it'll work ?

If you don't have the patch bay normalled, the top row is what ever you plug into the back of the top row. just make sure you mark it so you know what each jack is
