definitly is at first listen it sounded extremely similar until you listen real close then it sounds like its an impulse of a metal hall or room w/insulation...i guess for certain things that could be useful...also i'm not accustomed to using SIR...so maybe more experience with it will yield better results....for free you can't go wrong! :D

BTW... it's fun and interesting, and so far... not illegal... to sample the output of $3000.00-$5000.00 gear, but the most impressive IRs are the Real Spaces (recorded samples of theaters, concert halls, churches, etc).

And you're right Teach... just like with ANY reverb, easy does it. Small moves mean a lot in any reverb. You can fine tune an incredible sound with SIR.

UAD-1 Dialed In...

UAD-1 is dialed in...

Anybody know how to import the presets I downloaded from UA? I can't seem to get them to appear in the drop down list.

Do I really have to open each preset for each plug-in and save it as a Cakewalk preset... one by one?

Teacher... Middleman... anybody

You have to place them all in the folder that your software uses for waves files. In Sonar this is the Audio folder. Otherwise its hunt and find and it does not remember from one session to the next where the files are.

Uh... Okay... but I'm using Project folders, so each project as an Audio Folder. What exactly are you suggesting in this case?

Also, there are MANY folders of presets... one for each plug-in. Do I place the folders in the Audio Folder, or do I just dump them all in together?

Thanks for the help.

Steve

I just created a new folder called UAD and put them all in there. That way I know where they are when I need them.

Hmmm...

I tried putting a UAD folder containing all the preset files in the Audio folder in the Sonar3 Producer's Edition folder... no dice.

Maybe I'm not explaining this well. I see the presets in the plug-in "Load Preset" list. That allows me to use an Explorer tree to find the folder containing the plug-in presets. But I can only load one preset at a time to change my current plug-in settings.

I want to import them into the Sonar drop down list (next to the down arrow) at the top of the plug-in window.

If I type in a name and hit the save icon, the preset is stored and I can retrieve it from that point forward.

I'm looking for a way to import the UAD presets into Sonar's memorized presets. It would be great if they were xxxxx.spp files, then I could import them into Sonar using the Plug-in Manager.

Sorry if I'm being thick. It seems to me that what I'm trying to do just isn't possible. :(

No, you are perfectly clear but the UAD software was not written that way. You will have to load one at a time and then save them if that is what you are trying to do. Sorry for the mix up.

As I said before: The problem with convolution reverb is the IRs. There are tons on the net for free, but the are often generated or recorded poorly.

I record Impulse Responses at work (that's what I do :D) for measuring room acoustics and so on, and I therefore have some great impulse responses (because my company have some expensive equipment). Sadly I cannot share them because of some copyright-issues :(...

But Convolution Reverb is the way of the future. Just look up Altiverb (talking about "lack of control")...

And I'm really waiting for a ConRev plugin on PC except SIR...

That's what I thought.

Thanks Middleman.

Samplitude 7 comes with one its called Room Simulator its a lil more flexible then SIR....

Well, I'm not buying Sam7 just for a plug-in ;)...

Can you use your own IRs?

when you brought up that question...i thought the same thing...i will when i get home..

Is that when the project is 16 bit or the IR is 16 bit?
