Anyone know a good Reverb plugin?

SIR works without any problems in S3? I'm considering purchasing a UAD-1 for it's low latency processors and for the quality of the Dreamverb. Has anyone compared UAD-1 Dreamverb to the SIR reverb?

It's hard to argue with free if SIR works without problems.
 
SIR is dependent on its impulses so if its a shitty impulse of a room you get a shitty reverb...

while dream verb is just flat out gorgeous IMO

i haven't heard SIR though...

I have not played with SIR but did some comparisons with tracks done in SIR and those done in Dreamverb and much prefered the later. The controls and automation is much better in Dreamverb for mixing in my opinion.

I guarantee the SIR is the best, if you have quality IRs...

When you're right, you're right, ...and you are right about SIR. That's amazing! But you are right about the cost too. Resource intensive... but man what a sound.

you've heard it verse the dreamverb?...i'm telling you...i was BLOWN away(probably because i've only dealt with s/w reverb) when i heard dreamverb...if SIR or boxes like the Kurzweil stuff sound better then this i need me some....

Just download and extract SIR into your Cakewalk VST Adapter 4 folder. Make sure you download the Example Impulse Responses on the SIR download page too so you have something to play around with. Then just run the Cakewalk VST Adapter Configuration Wizard: Windows Start Menu-->All Programs-->Cakewalk-->VST Adapter.

There is also an ever increasing library of free IRs available on-line. Everything from sampled outboard reverbs to actual live rooms.

Smooth as butta. No issues. Took out my ultrafunk compressor and put in the LA2A on a number of vocal tracks. Man, big difference in the professionalism of the sound. It has that radio sound for lack of a better description. Big warm and smooth. No digital hardness.

Regarding Sonar, it just shows up as additional plug ins but I did not have crashing issues or dropouts if that's what you mean. My setup is as follows:

P4 2.26
768K RAM
Sonar 3

The 1176 and Pultec are stellar too. The Dreamverb is the best in box reverb I have heard. Its slightly better sounding than my M1 external on similar plate sounds.

Ok, now I'm raving. Get one you will not regret it.

Just closed the deal on mine. Ebay for $430.00.

Not sure if I'll pick up Dreamverb yet. Waiting for Teachers comparison with SIR. I figure, I can off-load compressors and eqs to the UAD-1 and use the multitude of IRs popping up all over as my library of reverbs using SIR.

OK - I downloaded 0.86 of SIR and those new PC81 impulses listed above. I still get the delay if it is patched on either track or bus.....

And yes, I have applied the R2 plugin patch..... But then again I also had applied the R1 of that patch which might have rooted it....

Or do I have to still use Sampleslide or something?

What you may need to do is increase your latency a bit. I actually have to do that using it with the other vst adapter. Try it anyway. If you go to the directixer site, it says something about SIR specifically, and others like it.

my lil assessment SIR vs. Dreamverb is, dream got it hands down...SIR sounded more artificial to my ears..very 'metally' compared to dreamverb and thats not what i look for in a reverb...I used PCM91 Large Hall impulse

this was with sir .76 when i dled the newer one it said the files was corrupt so i had to use the impulse in 16 bit that may have something to do with it...all in all SIR was pretty darn good its just that the dreamverb to me anyway is pretty damn amazing

also the parameters in dreamverb are alot more flexible...wanna make it sound like you recorded in a humid room with concrete floors and wooden walls...shit...dreamverb can do it...how about carpet floor concrete wall...50% humid...dream can do that too...how about dry air...etc... dreamverb is crazy....

I've got my UAD-1 on it's way. I'll give Dreamverb a test drive and chances are (given my current addiction and sickness) I'll purchase Dreamverb as well.

You gotta admit though, SIR is pretty outstanding, and it's hard to believe it's FREE.
