Anyone know a good Reverb plugin?

I've been using the bundled FX reverb, and a Timeworks plugin, but they just don't seem to have the versatility or high end of outboard gear I'm used to. Anyone know of a really good one, preferably with internal EQ for the Reverb? Or tried Lexicon's Pantheon?

Thanks.

you can try out this one in a lite version.
Several others and I like very much.

Upgrade to Sonar 3 Pro, and get Lexicon Phanteon. It's outstanding!

reverb

The Lexicon is very good, and the Sonitus reverb is also excellent.

But the best reverbs around is convolution reverbs, such as the SIR plugin. The cool things about convolution reverb is that it's a "picture" of an actual room. If you love the reverb in your office, then use WinMLS to record the Impulse Response, put it in SIR and voliá: Your recordings will sound like their recorded in your office.

I think WinMLS is one of the best programs around for meassuring Impulse Responses. For good convolution reverb, the sweep-time on the meassuring signal needs to be high (we're talking 50 to 60 seconds, gives very high SNR). Many of the packages around set the time to shorter than 10 ms, and the result isn't as good as it should. That's the cool thing about ConRev: It only depends on the IRs (if the code is right).

:)

SIR is the flat out best I've heard, especially with the Lexi PCM90 impulses and some other ones floating around.
And its FREE... Did I say FREE? Did I say it? Say what, you ask? FREE.

The Pantheon I think pulls in a not too distant second.

Just remember the good quality IRs will cost you... ;)

Or you can make them yourself... :)

The best reverb, at least for guitar, is the spring reverb in my Fender Twin Reverb amp. No matter what I try, it always sounds better. But how to plug a tank with springs into Sonar is another story.

Yeah, SIR is awesome. This is one of those rare free plug-ins that could just as easily be sold as a high-end commercial plug.

Even better now that the cakewalk VST adaptor has plugin delay compensation. :)

Does it really remove the delay? Hmmm... think I have to test it again.

Since it's free and Altiverb and Emagics convolution reverb cost a small fortune, I keep wonder "is something wrong with the code or something?"...

Did you download the Sonar3 patch yet? PDC for VST wasn't included until the release of the patch.

How are you guys using things like SIR? As a track insert with different rooms for different instruments/sections or as a bus effect and mixing more or less of the room into the signal?

Thanks,

Q.

Really depends on the IR and what I'm mixing... ;)

It's an Impulse Response! Generate a sweep signal from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, record this sweep in the room, use FFT (fast Fourier Transformation) and get the IR.

ahhh. Im still lost in the live stuff from the 70`s. :) so in other words it "Pinks the room and let`s you watch the freq amplitudes on the analyzer."
except it's probably in a box smaller than a can of pringles and gives a printed text detailed report of what you need to do. Technology is amazing... :)

I`ll get some info and read, thanks Moskus..
