Hi everyone,

I'm fairly new to the computer recording world and I'm having an annoying problem while tracking in Sawpro. Everything is fine until I start to get 20 or so multi-tracks going. When I get a higher number of tracks I start to get these random, tiny, almost inaudible little pops or clicks. As far as I can tell they are impossible to mute out and it's really getting hard to hide them with some percussion or whatever. I've got a new machine with a fast cpu, 128 ram and 10 gigs memory so I doubt that my computer is the culprit. I do suspect that my soundcard has something to do with it...SoundBlaster Live Platinum. Also I know that when running Sawpro you are supposed to shut down all other applications and I have tried this to no avail. Has anyone experienced this problem?

Hi,

I am not a Saw user, but I know that there are a few on the prorec.com discussion board. You may want to try there also.

You're starting to get up there in tracks. Dropouts are common in this case, regardless of your software... hence the pops and clicks. Trying to hide them should not be an option, especially since they should be fairly random in nature.

You need to start thinking about optimization. Check out an article called Tuning Tips for Low Latency Operation over at RME. It's in the News & Infos->Tech Info section of their site at:

As far as SAW goes, I've never used it, but you can try increasing your playback and record buffers. This is standard technique. If you're running with ASIO drivers you might have to adjust the buffers from your card's control panel.

Good luck.

Sicily,
Go over to www.prorec.com and go to their disscussion area. Walt Graham is the SawPro guru. He'll be glad to help. He thinks it's the best.
