that's a very unanswerable question.

are you talking about hip-hop vocals?

1) most hip-hop (lead vocals) have very little reverb. lots of doubling/tripling but not much reverb.

2) delay is time dependent, there is a company called AnalogX that makes little widget applications that convert BPM to delay milliseconds so you can match your delay settings to the speed of your sequenced tracks.

3) EQ is song dependent... different beats... different EQ for different reasons. i would advice that you be careful with the low frequencies (lower than 80hz) its necessary to carry the thump, but too much overpowers your sound.

No need to buy it. WizCalc is available for free. I posted a link to it a while back - do a search, you'll find it...

or cross you could just tap it in with a tap tempo delay unit (if your sense of time is good) or calculate the amount of milliseconds you need. let me give you a start, the prefix "milli" means what? How many of those per second? beats per minute means what? convert that to beats per second, see where I'm going? That way you could avoid the craptastic sound of the analogx plugs and still get your delays in tempo.

actually, AnalogX makes a widget application that does the math for you. its not actually a plug-in.

you type in the BPM and it shows you the milliseconds for 1/1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 and their related triplets so you can choose your milliseconds to match the tempo of your song.

That's exactly what WizCalc does, along with a number of other useful functions, and it's free.

Or as 'nubs said:

60,000/bpm = quarter note value in milliseconds

Example: to find the value in milliseconds of a quarter note at 120 bpm, calculate...

60,000/120 bpm = 500 milliseconds

then it's easy to do the math:

250 milliseconds = eighth note
125 " = sixteenth note
167 " = eighth note triplet

etc.

Just turn everything "one louder" than everything else - you'll be fine...!!!

I do folk music so the following settings may or may not apply -
I like my graphic eq to look like -

This makes my recordings of my plywood guitar through a radio shack mic sound like an Olson through a pair of KM84s...

Good luck!
