I installed an Echo Mia MIDI card a while ago and have never got the S/PDIF input to work. The analog and S/PDIF outputs & MIDI work, but when I try to record off of the S/PDIF inputs, all I get is hiss! I started by using Reaper and switched to Audigy with the same results. Actually, the hissing occurs when I connect a cable to the s/pdif input...whether or not something's connected to the other end of the cable.
The cable I'm using is a video cable, which I've used for s/pdif before (I think it's 75 ohms)
I started out using my Fostex VF-08, and when that didn't work, tried my Pioneer CD recorder. the Fostex & the CD recorder talk to each other fine.
Perhaps it's something I didn't get set up correctly, but I don't know.
Any thoughts?
