Just picked one up but it's missing the cable(s) that go from power to mixer, and I could really use a manual...

I'd try Gearslutz.com on this one...

Nice board, though... I know some people have "issues" with them, but I've always thought they were pretty solid and good sounding desks.

I used to own a TAC Scorpion. Personally, I think it is an excellent desk for what they are selling for. The Scorpions are truly a "warm " sounding console, with a very smooth sounding EQ. I love running the Scorpion nicely into the red zone.

If I remember right, I believe the power supply cable (from console to supply) is a 5 pin cable. If the pins are arranged properly you could probably build one pretty easily out of 5 pin DMX connectors. In fact, a DMX cable would probably work, but I would be afraid that the individually jacketed wires may not be quite a heavy enough gauge. They may though:) I believe there is still at least one company in the US that does AMEK authorized repairs. They would probably have either a cable, or better info for you. Be really careful with the power supply, that was one of their weak points, especially if you ahve a 32 channel or larger Scorpion. Also, be prepared to run into some meter problems. The Scorpions had a tendency to develop a meter problem in the meterbridge where instead of burning out, some of the meters would stay constantly lit. My Scorpion had a few meters like that. However, underneath those permanently lit meters, the meter is actually still working (at least in my case). You may also want to invest in some CAIG products to clean some (or all) of the pots. The channels are very easy to get out (they are socketed), and the pots are pretty easy to get at. TAC did a good job making nice wide channels that are easy to get at. Some cleaning will probably be necessary though since they probably haven't made Scorpion 1's for about 10 or more years now.

Have fun with your new Scorpion. There have been many days when I wish I had kept and custom racked 6 or 8 channels out of my scorpion. And remember, don't be afraid of the clip light. Use your ears:) I personally loved what it did to a lot of different signals when you hit the clip light by a good 3 to 6 db. Its not like a Mackie where it just craps out. The Scorpion tends to just mildly fuzz up and the tone changes when you hit it good and hard. Kind of like analog tape:D
