tempt them in with a free course sent to an email! (any real, free no stings attached deal would have the links online, and if it was any good it would be mirrored) ....

notice the lack of any audio material, any "engineer" bio .. no links to checkable online sites to verify he could even plug a mic in ...

"well, you could use google and check for yourself" yip i could, but is the guys name similar to some real guy in the field ? am i looking at the right guy ? ... doubt it very much

no links,no bio,no "finished" material = <no way>

Hi guys,

Thought I'd chip in here and introduce myself.

First of all, thank you for your comments - this is a new home page and it's really helpful to see how you interpreted the website.

I will make sure there are clearer links on the site to my bio and 'About' page, which you can find here: About - Home Studio Center

The blog area is free, and the courses/resources on that home page are also free. I have never sold an email address, and never will.

I do sell premium courses and a book that I occasionally promote to the my mailing list, but 90% of the content that I create is absolutely free (and is available on the blog or via my mailing list).

Hope that helps to clear the air a bit. Sorry that my bio is not clear on the website - I'm going to edit that now.

Best wishes,
Rob

Thanks for stopping in and putting a face to the site Rob. :)

The notification when I first connected was likely unnecessary, and to some people could be a turnoff [see attached, "PushCrew"]. Most people use a general/spam email for subscriptions anyway, so asking for an email is the lesser of the concerns. Maybe you could run a small advertising banner (AdWords, etc) to help offset the costs for the site and sell your products to recoup the time spent creating the tutorials and blogs. Data mining or installing any type of nagware that integrates with someone's browser on a small scale website isn't going to garnish you many fans. Make it truly free and unsolicited, and let the quality of the content propel you forward. Remember that this type of information is already available for free in various places on the web, so any roadblocks or red flags you throw into the first impression of a visitor is a risk they will simply go elsewhere (?).

Thanks for pointing that you. Push notifications are a pretty new thing that I thought I would try out, but you're right, perhaps falls under 'nagware'. I have turned off that notification.

Thank you for taking the time to reply (and for the words of advice), I really do appreciate it :)

My main aim with this website is to provide as much free value as possible, so I would hate to do anything that gives away the wrong impression.

Thanks for the replies. Basically, for me, anyone asking for ANY information from me, including an email address, immediately loses me. If the goal is to provide free info, then simply provide it on the site; don't ask for my info first. You've no need for my email address unless it's to send me email in the future, and frankly I don't want it. I'm fine with you also mentioning or advertising your other premium stuff, books, etc on your site, in fact more power to you to make millions as far as I'm concerned......just keep it on the site and out of my Inbox. :)
