Every once in a while a new user with no prior posts comes here and asks the exact same question, verbatim as a previous new member had asked weeks or months before. Then that new member never posts again.

Who is this I wonder?

Are we unknowingly part of a memory experiment, or is it just a persistent troll finding new ways to amuse himself.

We may never know.

Hi Tim
Yes I noticed it months ago and try to ignore them.

when you've been hanging around here for half a decade or more all the questions become repeats, especialy the analog ones.

Glad I could help. Legit new members aren't the problem. These posts I'm talking about aren't simply similar questions you would expect from a new member, but they are cut and past verbatim wording that come up with some regularity from new accounts. It could be a troll or an automated feature in vBulletin to stimulate an inactive forum. Whatever it is it’s annoying as hell. There are enough real issues to talk about without the distraction of bogus questions. ;)

yes
