OK, here's the deal: I located a really cool pair of vintage speaker cabinets. They've got a groovy front panel fabric. I'd love the strip the paint, stain it, replace the drivers, crossover, etc.
The problem is I have no real use for them . . . but if anybody wants a kickass pair of vintage-looking monitors, I'll build them for you. It would be a copy of my own custom monitors, SEAS drivers, 6.5" with an aluminum dome tweeter (fabric if you prefer), custom crossover. The response graph shows dead flat response from 200Hz to 10kHz with just a little 2dB dip at 1kHz, down 7 dB by 20kHz and about 6dB/octave below 200Hz (it is a 6.5" driver, after all). Crossover components are good quality Dayton audio grade caps & resistors & low resistance inductors, gold binding post connectors.
Finished cost would be $300 for the pair, just a few bucks over the cost of components, and I would guarantee these up against anything similar at that price.
I'm not looking for anybody to commit, but just reply if you might at all be interested. Really I'm just looking for an excuse to build these . . .
