Anybody using a Mangler or Rumor converters?

Both the Manger and Rumour have SPDIF I/O, and I am toying (since I just need one gold channel) to use the following signal chain in...

SM7B ---> John Hardy ---> Mangler ---> Mobo w/SPDIF I/O.

and the following signal chain out...

Mobo w/SPDIF I/O ---> Mangler ---> Wharfdale 8.2

Is anybody else trying this stunt? Even if it goes south the Emu 1212m only costs $200 more... but, heck, $200 is a fair bit towards a ribbon mic.

I am waiting for my Rumour (ordered, but backordered). But FWIW, I have heard that the convertors on these units are top notch.
